Grupo Modelo electric truck fleet growing exponentially in Mexico – Global Fleet

The electric delivery truck fleet of Mexican brewing company Grupo Modelo is growing exponentially in Mexico with expectations to reach more than 100 vehicles by early  2023.

Following an initial delivery of 20 BYD 21-tonne trucks in 2021, the company is planning to have 35 more units by year-end 2022, an additional 30-35 e-trucks by the beginning of 2023, and further expansion is also planned.

The company’s fleet is made up of low-bed trucks which have 160km of range and charge to 100% in 6-7 hours. Considering its fleet profile, Grupo Model only needs to recharge in 2.5 days on average.

The trucks are equipped with telematics offering 24/7 visibility by way of 360-degree cameras which record activity inside and outside the truck. Currently, the fleet only operates in Mexico City, but the company intends to have e-trucks in other Mexican cities by year-end 2022.
